WHY INVOLVE BOY CHILD IN COMPREHENSIVE SEXUALITY EDUCATION

We aim to explore the significance of actively involving boys, discussing why it has been a consistent effort to engage them in our daily initiatives and programs

Understanding Respectful Relationships: Comprehensive Sexuality Education teaches about healthy relationships, respect, and consent. Males, like everyone else, benefit from understanding boundaries, communication, and the importance of mutual respect in relationships.

Addressing Misconceptions and Stereotypes: There has a lot been cases or scenarios where in any case there has been a sexual violence act that has occurred between a male and a female, the first suspect will always be the boy child because of how the society views the boy. And therefore, we try and do away with such stereotypes and try to highlight why also the boy child can also be victim.

Promoting Health and Well-being: Education about sexual health, contraception, and STI prevention is vital for everyone's well-being. Male involvement ensures they have accurate information to make informed decisions about their sexual health, information such as the correct use of condoms, family planning that are available for the men, ways of which STI can be prevented. We also try and engage the male because it’s important to get knowledge on the family planning commodities that are available for the men and look at its advantages and disadvantages.

Reducing Gender-Based Violence: Comprehensive Sexuality Education aims to prevent gender-based violence by fostering understanding, empathy, and respect. Educating males about consent and respectful behavior contributes to creating a safer environment for all, by this we try to emphasize that when in relationship each partner should be able to respect each other. We also share information on how incase a man has been a victim of SGBV, we investigate how they can seek support and encourage them to always speak out and not shy off.

Supporting Personal Development: When talking about comprehensive sexuality education we always try and emphasize that it’s not solely about reproductive health; it also includes topics like body image, self-esteem, and emotional well-being. Involving males encourages holistic personal development and positive self-perception.

Building Empathy and Understanding: Learning about diverse experiences and perspectives fosters empathy. Male involvement in CSE helps them understand different gender identities, sexual orientations, and experiences, promoting a more inclusive society.

Preparing for Parenthood: Whether becoming parents or supporting partners in parenthood, comprehensive sexuality education equips males with essential information about pregnancy, childbirth, parenting and how they can be able to solve issues when together as couples.

Generally Involving males in comprehensive sexuality education is crucial for their personal development, understanding healthy relationships, promoting respect, and contributing to a safer and more inclusive society.
